They came They saw They took no prisoners Well the inlaws came and have gone. It was a short visit. They showed up Friday nite and left last nite. And sweet providence was smiling upon me as my oldest daughter fell asleep before they dropped us off, which means I did not have to defend my position as "over-protective daughter-in-law". HALLELUJIA!!! There was a time when I was happy (sorta) to hear they were coming to visit. Now, it is more a sense of dread. Dreading their departure. You see, we have an ongoing battle of wills now. My MIL is DESPARATE to take my oldest daughter home with them "to visit". This is never something that has been discussed rationally or any attempt made to plan such an event, it is always a last minute guilt-fest, in which I am made out to be "mean-Mommy-who-won't-let-us-have-any-fun". The reasons are many and various as to why I don't want her to visit but no one will hear me. They are trying to break me down. They turn my own kids against me. But I am the Mommy. They may succeed at making me do back flips many times for many other ridiculous reasons. But again, I am The Mommy, and cutesy name aside, this means I am the Boss. And when it comes to my kids I refuse to compromise. ( this sounds so good, I just hope I can believe it myself) But once again, THANK YOU GOD, no high-drama!!! (HUGE sigh of relief)
